Privacy Policy

Overview and Principles
Glowpixel Labs is a set of free image tools that run in the browser. The site is designed from the ground up around device-side execution and strict visitor privacy. When you use any tool on this website, your images are processed on the device and never uploaded to our servers or any cloud infrastructure.
Because everything happens locally inside your web browser, our operational model is straightforward: we do not collect your files, we do not require account registration, and we do not monitor your behavior with analytics scripts. The site sets no cookies itself. This privacy policy explains what technical data stays on your machine, how minimal operational metadata is handled by our hosting infrastructure, what optional third-party services may load, and how you retain control over your preferences.
What We Do Not Collect
Our architecture ensures that personal data collection is avoided by design rather than through policy alone:
No Image or File Uploads
When you drop, paste, or select an image file to edit or convert, the file is read directly into memory by your browser. At no point in this workflow is your image sent across the internet to Glowpixel Labs or any remote server. File parsing, pixel transformation, color adjustments, and file export take place locally on your computer, tablet, or phone. Once your work is finished, the output file is saved directly to your local file system.
No User Accounts or Identifiers
There are no user profiles, account creation mechanisms, sign-up forms, or login requirements on Glowpixel Labs. You never need to supply your name, email address, password, or any personal details to access the full functionality of the tools. We maintain no user database, no member directory, and no persistent identifiers linked to individual visitors.
No Analytics Tracking
We do not use web analytics platforms, tracking beacons, session recording tools, or browser fingerprinting technologies. We do not track page views, feature clicks, time spent on the site, or referral pathways. Your navigation through our pages remains private to your browser.
No Web Forms
Glowpixel Labs contains no web contact forms or submission inputs that transmit text to our servers. Any contact with us is initiated by you directly through your own email client.
What Stays in Your Browser
Because our tools run client-side, the operations and settings associated with your visits stay contained within your browser storage:
Temporary Storage on Your Device
To prevent losing your photos when you refresh the page or navigate between related tool pages in the same browser tab, active photos and your tweak settings are held in your browser’s own storage on this device (IndexedDB under gp-session and sessionStorage under gp-sid and gp-tweak).
These files remain strictly on your device and are never uploaded or transmitted to any server. They are tied to your current browser tab session and are removed immediately when you press Clear. If you close the tab, leftover session files are deleted the next time you open the site.
Local Memory and File Handling
All image manipulations rely on standard browser technologies, including Canvas, OffscreenCanvas, and Web Workers. These capabilities allocate temporary device memory to compute adjustments and generate download files.
Local OCR Files and On-Device AI Models
The Image to Text tool loads Tesseract.js 7.0.0, its WebAssembly recognition engine, and only the language data you select from this website’s own /ocr/ directory after you choose Extract text. These Apache-2.0 licensed files are cached in browser Cache Storage under glowpixel-ocr-v7. Requests contain no image bytes or extracted text.
The Background Remover tool offers two on-device models: a fast Portraits model (MODNet, Apache-2.0, about 7 MB) and a Pets and objects model (IS-Net, Apache-2.0, about 44 MB) downloaded once on explicit user confirmation. Both are cached in browser Cache Storage under glowpixel-ai-v1. Neural network matting runs locally on your device hardware via ONNX Runtime Web (onnxruntime-web, MIT License). It is model download only; your image never leaves your device. At no point are your images transmitted over the network; model downloads fetch only pre-trained neural network weights.
The AI Upscaler tool downloads the BSD-3-Clause Real-ESRGAN general x4v3 AI model once (about 5 MB) into browser Cache Storage under glowpixel-ai-v1. Neural network super-resolution runs locally on your device hardware via ONNX Runtime Web (onnxruntime-web, MIT License). The primary AI models are self-hosted. If a primary model request fails, Background Remover or AI Upscaler may request the same public model from huggingface.co. These requests contain no image data. Model cache entries remain until site data is cleared, browser eviction occurs, or the cache version changes.
Browser Local Storage
The site sets no cookies itself. To preserve essential functional preferences across visits, Glowpixel Labs stores two items in your browser localStorage:
- Interface theme: Stored under the key
gp-theme. This stores your choice between the light and dark interface themes so the website displays according to your preference when you navigate between pages. - Advertising consent: Stored under the key
gp-consent. This records your decision from the advertising consent banner. If persistent storage fails after you decline,gp-consent-denyin sessionStorage preserves that privacy-safe choice for the current tab session.
Both keys reside exclusively on your device within your browser storage. They are not transmitted to us and remain in your browser until you clear your browser site data or update your choices.
Third Parties and Infrastructure
To serve the website to visitors around the world, Glowpixel Labs relies on third-party infrastructure and plans to support operations through advertising:
Open-Source Components Delivered to Your Browser
The production site delivers these third-party components as needed: fflate 0.8.3 (MIT); @jsquash/avif 2.1.1, @jsquash/jpeg 1.6.0, @jsquash/oxipng 2.3.0, @jsquash/png 3.1.1, and @jsquash/webp 1.5.0 (Apache-2.0); onnxruntime-web 1.30.0 (MIT); and Tesseract.js 7.0.0, its OCR core, and tessdata_fast language files (Apache-2.0). The MODNet and IS-Net ONNX model files are provided under Apache-2.0, and the Real-ESRGAN general x4v3 ONNX model under BSD-3-Clause. Face detection in the Blur & Pixelate tool lazily loads @mediapipe/tasks-vision 0.10.21 (Apache-2.0) with self-hosted BlazeFace models under Apache-2.0 on user click. HEIC support lazily loads an unmodified heic-to 1.6.5/libheif build under LGPL-3.0 only when needed. Self-hosted Instrument Sans, Hanken Grotesk, and Geist Mono font files use SIL Open Font License 1.1. Licence terms govern the respective third-party components; they do not receive your image files.
Hosting and Edge Delivery
Glowpixel Labs is hosted on GitHub Pages and delivered through Cloudflare. When your browser requests pages, style sheets, and scripts, your connection connects to Cloudflare and GitHub Pages edge servers. As part of standard internet communication, Cloudflare and GitHub Pages see IP addresses and request metadata (such as browser user-agent strings, request URLs, and timestamps) in server logs to route network traffic, mitigate malicious attacks, and maintain service availability. Glowpixel Labs does not merge or analyze these infrastructure logs to identify individual visitors.
Consent-Gated Advertising via Google AdSense
To help offset hosting and operational costs while keeping tools free, a deployment may enable Google AdSense. The Google advertising script is not loaded automatically: it is requested only when advertising is enabled and configured for the deployment and the visitor affirmatively accepts advertising in the consent banner.
If you choose to accept advertising, Google AdSense and its advertising partners may load scripts and use cookies, device identifiers, and similar technologies under their own privacy policies to serve, personalize, and measure advertisements. If you decline advertising or make no selection, no advertising scripts are loaded, and no third-party advertising cookies are placed on your machine.
Cookies and Local Storage Table
The following table provides an overview of the storage mechanisms utilized on this site:
| Name | Storage Mechanism | Managed By | Purpose | Lifespan |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| gp-theme | LocalStorage | Glowpixel Labs | Stores dark or light interface theme selection | Persistent until cleared by user in browser data |
| gp-consent | LocalStorage | Glowpixel Labs | Records your advertising choice | Persistent until cleared or changed via Cookie settings |
| gp-consent-deny | SessionStorage | Glowpixel Labs | Preserves a decline for the current tab if persistent consent storage fails | Cleared when browser tab is closed |
| gp-sid | SessionStorage | Glowpixel Labs | Identifies current browser tab session | Cleared when browser tab is closed |
| gp-tweak | SessionStorage | Glowpixel Labs | Stores chosen size adjustments across refreshes | Cleared on Clear or when tab is closed |
| gp-session | IndexedDB | Glowpixel Labs | Preserves active photos across refreshes | Cleared on Clear or purged on next visit after tab is closed |
| glowpixel-ocr-v7 | Cache Storage | Glowpixel Labs | Caches self-hosted Tesseract.js OCR engine files and selected language data | Until site data is cleared or the cache version changes |
| glowpixel-ai-v1 | Cache Storage | Glowpixel Labs | Caches on-device AI model weights; primary files are self-hosted, with a Hugging Face fallback if unavailable | Until site data is cleared, browser eviction, or the cache version changes |
| Advertising cookies (conditional) | HTTP Cookies and Local Storage | Google AdSense and advertising partners | Deliver, measure, and personalize ads only after explicit consent when advertising is enabled | Set and governed by third-party ad partner policies |
The site sets no cookies itself. Third-party advertising cookies exist only if you explicitly opt in through the consent banner.
Your Choices and Controls
You maintain direct control over your storage data and advertising choices:
Cookie Settings Control
You can modify or withdraw your advertising consent at any time. Simply click the Cookie settings link text located in the website footer. This control reopens your consent options, allowing you to change your selection between accepted and declined states whenever you wish.
Browser Storage Controls
You can inspect, manage, and delete stored values at any time through your browser settings. You can delete localStorage entries for gp-theme and gp-consent, configure your browser to block third-party cookies, or clear all site data upon exiting your browser.
Children
Glowpixel Labs provides general-audience image utilities. We do not knowingly collect, request, or retain personal data from children under the age of 13 or applicable legal thresholds. Because images are processed on the device and never uploaded, no user accounts exist, and the site sets no cookies itself, no personal information belonging to children is collected or maintained on our systems.
Changes
We may update this privacy policy as the website evolves, particularly if model delivery, OCR assets, advertising providers, or browser storage behavior changes. When changes occur, the revised document will be published on this page with the updated date clearly specified at the top. We encourage visitors to review this policy periodically.
